A dedicated and enthusiastic lifelong learner and educator, Susan M Johnson has 30 years of experience teaching science and math in public, private, online, and homeschool settings. She is passionate about utilizing students’ natural curiosity and innate intelligence to facilitate their understanding of the natural world and she works diligently to use a variety of instructional strategies to address the diversity of learning styles that are found in any classroom. Susan holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Connecticut in Nutritional Science and a Master of Science in Science Education from Montana State University. She also holds a certification in mental health first aid through the National Council for Behavioral Health.
In her free time Susan grows and preserves vegetables, herbs, and flowers. She can often be found wandering local woodlands and meadows with her aggressively friendly dog and her patient and supportive husband in search of wild foods and plant medicines. She enjoys teaching others how foods, both wild and cultivated, can be used along with prayer and movement to support health, and overcome health challenges. When not wandering throughout creation, Susan can be found producing delightful fabrics on her 8-harness weaving loom or playing the role of “roadie” for “The Ragamuffins” a family band comprised of her talented husband, her handsome and energetic son, and her beautiful daughter.
