About the Course
In this six-session class we explore the Jewish background of the New Testament and compare some points of intersection and divergence with the Aramaic Targums. The Targums, which were composed in Aramaic - a sister language to Hebrew - over the course of about 1000 years, were after the the New Testament but preserve elements of Jewish theology and biblical interpretation from the early days of Christianity.
This is an introductory-level course and is therefore open too all inquiring minds. All texts are provided and read in English translation, though Dr. Dost will explain important observations from Greek, Hebrew, and Aramaic texts.
